Production Internships (3)
The Production Interns will gain comprehensive insight into large-scale event operations. Experience will be gained in the planning and execution sides dealing with the most critical issues events face. Throughout the season, interns will find focus in one of the following elements with experience/exposure to the others: Festival/Event signage installation and design, advancing Festival artists' needs, and "green" policies and procedures. Start/end dates are flexible depending on internship focus and specific situations.
Depending on the focus of the internship, duties will include but not be limited to some/most of the following:
- Researching current Greening practices and policies in the industry and City of Seattle.
Building comprehensive informational binders for Stage Managers, Crew Chiefs, and other short-term employees.
Generating/Tracking crew hiring paperwork.
Assisting with the credentialing process for all Festival employees and hires.
Collecting technical data on artists' needs and venue specifications.
Managing the on-site Production Office.
Manage small groups of volunteers during Signage installation and other grounds projects.
Responsibilities
Must be detail-oriented, organized with strong computer skills. If interested in the Signage-focused internship, previous experience with design software (i.e. Adobe Illustrator, VectorWorks). If interested in the Advancing-focused internship, must be confident speaking with industry professionals via telephone.
This is a good chance to get a general view of how events work if someone is still unsure of how they fit into this industry. Knowledge and experience with the mechanics of event production will make future work in any other element of the industry that much stronger. Exposure to the advancing experience will assist with venue management and artist relations.
Qualifications
Must handle stress well, stay calm under pressure, and maintain a good sense of humor through difficult situations. A flexible schedule is necessary as long hours and work on weekends/holidays is required. Knowledge of Seattle Center grounds is helpful.
