Position Summary
The PR Manager plans and implements organization and event communications, and ensures key, strategic messages are communicated effectively and consistently to our audiences.

Essential Functions

Create, publish and implement a collaborative and integrated communications plan.
Generate PR materials, including press releases, story pitches, interview talking points, public information materials and official correspondence.
Develop productive relationships with regional and national journalists, bloggers, and peers at Convention & Visitors Bureau, Office of Tourism, Office of Economic Development, Office of Music & Film, Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, and regional arts organizations.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of programmed content and sponsorship initiatives, strategizing with departments to ensure public initiatives are realized through media outreach.
Facilitate interviews, and schedule photo and media opportunities, both pre-event and on-site.
Serve as the public face of One Reel or event as necessary, answering all direct media inquiries on-camera and on the record.
Manage response to escalated customer service issues as needed.
Lead PR team for the successful on-site management of media needs.
Ensure readiness and, if necessary, oversee implementation of event crisis communications plan.
Supervise and mentor PR Coordinator.
Qualifications

Candidate has a B.A. and minimum of 5 years experience in Media / PR, with a proven track record in successful communications management and strategic messaging
Excellent, motivated leader who thrives in a collaborative and high energy environment, and has experience working with a dynamic, results-oriented staff
Must effectively manage multiple, complex projects on tight deadlines and be able to prioritize. Must be willing to put in the hours as needed to get the job done with a high degree of accuracy and quality. This may involve working some evenings and weekends.
Creative, culturally savvy, and in touch with current and developing trends
Exceptional writing, copy editing and oral communication skills
Preference will be given to candidates with an arts focused background and large-scale event experience

Successfully executes a communications plan to meet or exceed annual earned media goals set and agreed to by this individual and Marketing Director.
Manages staff personnel issues to resolution within the department.
